DJ Romy Jons, Diamond Platnumz brother celebrates 8 years of sobriety
He holds significant influence as a DJ in his homeland and is also known as Diamond Platnumz’s brother. Romy Jons has showcased his skills as a DJ and artist independently, having performed in locations such as Dubai and the USA without relying on his brother’s reputation.
Throughout his career, he struggled with excessive alcohol consumption, fearing it could hinder his professional growth. However, in a recent interview with the YouTube channel Simulizi na Sauti, he expressed pride in his decision to quit drinking.
“I’ve been sober since 2016. I made this choice because I realized that to achieve my goal of becoming the biggest DJ and artist, I needed to stop drinking. I aspire to reach the same level as Tyler Perry, and for that, I knew I had to eliminate alcohol and any other substances,” he stated.
This shift in lifestyle has enabled him to focus more on his ambitions and steer clear of distractions. He attributes his decision to prayer, revealing that he prayed intensely for three months to overcome his addiction.
“I prayed fervently because it had become too much for me. I used to drink to the point where I would come home when children were heading to school the next morning. This behavior was unacceptable, so I turned to God and prayed consistently for three months,” he shared.
For Romy Jons, embracing sobriety has been a transformative journey, allowing him to become more responsible and dedicated to his craft as a DJ. He emphasizes that the choice to stop drinking should be a personal one, highlighting the immense potential for growth and achievement that comes with sobriety.
