Tanzanian artiste Diamond Platnumz was on Friday forced to dispatch his security detail to recover his stolen cap which was yanked off his head.

Diamond had donned a black outfit, a green cover-up shirt and a green cap to match, had been accompanied by his bodyguards as he was manoeuvering through the streets to his car when a fan snatched the green cap off his head.

The 'Naanzaje' hitmaker couldn't hide his disappointment and other unpalatable emotions as he stopped almost as if to look for the culprit who had disappeared with his favourite cap.

His bodyguards whisked him to safety in his car.

Inside his car, Diamond ordered one of his bodyguards to find the cap stating that it had sentimental value to him.

"Onesmo kofia lazima ipatikane kwa sababu ina nguo nyingi. Yani nguo zangu karibu zote nilizokuja ndo navalia kofia hili. Sasa mimi navaaje leo ndo maanake? Onesmo, staki aje hotelini baki na huyo afwatane nayo kaitafute pekeake," he stated.

Translating to:

"The cap must be found because it matches most of my clothes. Almost all the clothes I packed match that cap. Onesmo should not accompany me to the hotel, instead, I want him to look for my cap and find it,"

To which his bodyguard replied by assuring him that he would do whatever it took to ensure that the cap was found.

Not long after Onesmo found the cap and returned to the bongo star at his hotel.

He expressed relief noting that despite being cheap the cap is of great value to him.

"Shukrani sana ndugu yangu maanake kofia nimekuja nayo jana, sio kama ya bei nyingi ni ya kawaida lakini...(Thank you so much. This cap is not pricey but...." he added.

Diamond is not new to being robbed by fans. Last year, the singer was counting losses after some of his fans robbed him of a marvin from his head while he was performing at a concert in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In the incident, the fans overpowered his security detail and stole his orange marvin before attempting to steal his chains.
