Diamond Platnumz's 'Komasava' remix cost 500 million to produce

It is now emerging that “Komasava” remix by Diamond Platnumz featuring American pop and R&B star Jason Derulo cost at least Sh24 million to produce.

The song which is currently trending at number 1 in Kenya was shot in multiple countries, including the UAE's Dubai, where Diamond and Jason linked up.

This was revealed by Diamond’s longtime manager SK Sallam who stated that the budget significantly exceeds Tsh500 million (Sh24 million) when considering all expenditures such as logistics, location fees, production costs, accommodation, and miscellaneous expenses.

“The video was shot in different locations by three different video directors. There is a desert scene shot in Dubai, a scene shot in Paris, and another scene featuring both Diamond and Jason, also shot in Dubai,” SK Sallam explained.

South African Amapiano singers Chley and Khalil are also featured on the “Komasava Remix” were also to Dubai along with their team, covering their accommodation and other expenses.

“It wasn’t easy putting everything together because there wasn’t enough time to prepare well. We were given an ultimatum of two days to complete payments for the collaboration fees (by Derulo’s team), locations used, and permits to shoot at the locations. There were also the costs of setting up the various locations. Honestly, if we factor in every expense, the budget is way higher,’’ he added.

In another unique twist, the WCB President used the song to greet people in seven different languages, stressing unity and cultural diversity.
