Comedian Eric Omondi Comes to the Rescue of Marya after She Suffered a Stroke
Comedian Eric Omondi is leading a fundraiser for singer and songwriter Mary Maina aka Marya, who recently suffered a stroke that left one part of her body paralyzed.
On Monday, Omondi visited Marya at her home, making a public appeal to well-wishers to help the singer financially.
According to the comedian, Marya currently can’t walk or perform any physical duties, and therefore, she needs help to make ends meet and also foot her medical bills.
“Hey guys… This is Marya, our Beautiful Sister, who has entertained us for decades… She suffered a stroke and is unable to walk or perform any Physical duties.
All her shows have been canceled, she is the mother of two Beautiful kids…She needs us…Her bills have piled…Please send whatever you can to her number 0719210779(NAME: MARY MAINA) GOD BLESS YOU,” Eric Omondi said.

In an emotional update shared by fellow artist and close friend Avril on Instagram, she provided details on Marya’s condition and how fans can support her recovery. Avril posted a message from Marya’s family, which read:
“A heartfelt thank you for the love, support and prayers you have extended towards Marya over the past week. As you know, she suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot that limited oxygen flow to the brain. She has since been discharged and is continuing her recovery at home. Physiotherapy is ongoing twice a day, and although the left side of her body remains unresponsive, we remain hopeful and encouraged by her strength.”

The family expressed their deep gratitude for the overwhelming support received and urged the public to continue showing solidarity.
“With that said, Marya and her family still need us. Please continue to support and reach out to her personally where possible. Every call, message, prayer or visit goes a long way,” Avril added.

Marya, whose real name is Mary Maina, rose to prominence under the legendary Ogopa Deejays stable in the late 2000s and early 2010s. She became a household name through hits like Hey Baby and Sishiki Simu, earning acclaim for her distinctive voice and sultry style.
In recent years, Marya has spoken candidly about her financial struggles and the challenges she faced after her rise to fame.
“I became famous and got money at a very young age. The worst thing is I didn’t have anyone to guide me — to tell me to save, invest, or buy land. Suddenly, I was broke. It was a mistake. I was only 22 then, but I learnt my lesson,” she once admitted.
“I tried working on projects, but I kept hitting a wall. Finances were the main issue. I didn’t have a manager, and managing myself was difficult,” she added.
