“A LETTER FROM CHARLI'S FIANCÉ
My love,
I can scarcely believe that I am writing this. Not in the year that you and I were supposed to become man and wife. This makes no sense.
Since the day you left, I have been in an agony I did not believe possible. You see, baby, we are so inextricably linked. You were in every part of my life, giving me strength, cheering me on, being my rock and the best friend I will ever know.
But I am comforted by your life, and the outpouring of love that has followed your passing. It is a testament to the man you were. A man who loved loudly and unapologetically. You wore your heart so proudly on your sleeve. You cared so deeply about the people and the things you were passionate about. Your genius bled all through your work both on stage and off it, as a creator and a mentor. And what a privilege it was to have had a front-row seat to your greatness.
You were the perfect gentleman. And my goodness, you were the kindest man I have ever known. You created an atmosphere of such safety for me. With you, I knew that
I was wholly accepted, through good times and bad. We created together, we fought, we laughed, we cried, and most of all we loved.
And my God, what a big love it was. It was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. How lucky I was that I got to love and be loved by you.
I'm not sure how I will be able to move on from this, but it is the honour of my life to have been yours.
Travel safe, my sweet, eternal love.
I will love you until I join you. Your W,”.
