Kenyan artists Bien and Breeder have released a new song 'Maandamano'.
The song comes amid a wave of protests led by the Gen Z triggered by the Finance Bill 2024, which sparked significant controversy and public outcry.
The song 'Maandamano', which translates to "protests" in English, was released on Monday and can be streamed on all major platforms.
The song is quickly gaining traction as an anthem among the youth.
Its powerful lyrics and compelling beats resonate deeply with the youth, who have been at the forefront of the demonstrations.
The Finance Bill 2024, which includes measures perceived as burdensome by many, particularly the younger population, has been a focus of the recent protests.
Bien and Breeder, known for their socially conscious music, created 'Maandamano' to amplify the voices of the marginalised and to highlight issues affecting everyday Kenyans.
Breeder criticises deep-rooted corruption in the country, and the police for their actions during the protests where peaceful protesters were killed.
