The music video features Kenyan actor Brian Ogana, famously known as Luwi from the TV series Maria who plays the role of a man who doesn't mind being the second choice in the woman's relationships.
In "I Don't Mind," the lyrics narrate the emotional journey of a man reflecting on broken promises and lost love. He recalls the sweet assurances of love, saying, "Kiumbuka zile ahadi na penzi ulinipea kumbe ulikuwa uende," realizing that while she gave him kisses and promises, she had always planned to leave. He is left wondering who has taken his place, asking, "Ni nani? alichukuwa nafasi yangu niambie, ni nani?"
Despite knowing she may have moved on, he accepts his fate, expressing, "I don't mind akiwa number one, I don't mind niwe number two." His love for her is so deep that he’s willing to be second in her life as long as he remains a part of it.
The song also reflects the advice he received from significant people in his life, each warning him against loving too much. His mother cautioned him, "Mwana usipende sana, mjini utagongewa, na sio mlango," meaning that loving too deeply in the city will leave him hurt, not by a door but by heartbreak.
His father echoed this sentiment, "Baba akasema aki usipende sana, utanyonyewa, na sio maembe," warning that over-loving will leave him drained, like being squeezed for everything, but not by mangoes.
His teacher warned him, "Mwalimu akasema aki usipende sana utapigiwa, na sio kengele," telling him that loving too much will result in emotional blows, not by a bell but by unexpected pain.
Even Riggy G humorously advised him, "Bahati usipende sana, mwishowe utagusiwa na sio murima," saying that excessive love will eventually lead to deep wounds, not by a mountain but by emotional struggles.
Through all the advice, the man acknowledges the risks of love but remains steadfast, accepting that even if he isn’t the priority, his love persists.
This release comes almost two weeks after Bahati dropped another song titled Cherie, dedicated to his wife, Diana Marua.
