Media personality Anita Nderu and her husband Barret Raftery are celebrating their third wedding anniversary.
Anita's traditional wedding took place at the Fort Smith Gardens in Loresho, while their white wedding was held on September 9, 2021. The couple welcomed their first child in August 2022.
On social media, Anita hinted that today might be significant for their growing family, saying, “Where did a whole year go? I'm so grateful for every moment of it, and most of all, B❤️ Gratitude and love in abundance fill my mind and heart today! Happy 3rd anniversary to us! I love you soooooo much, Honey Bun❤️ It’s amazing to look back on all our moments together. Even when the year blurs in memory, we can revisit the adventures, the wonderful community we have, and the places we’ve visited, reliving the emotions that made our memories special. ❤️ Tonight is going to be 🔥🔥🔥😅😅😅 Peanut 2.0🥳”
In a previous interview, the couple shared that they were introduced by a mutual friend in 2020 while both were going through breakups.
Raftery revealed that within a year, he knew he wanted to marry Anita and they began planning their wedding. “I used to spend six to eight hours a day on the phone with her; I’ve never spent that much time with anyone else,” he said.
Anita described feeling safe and at peace around him. “He was incredible—warm, kind, intelligent, caring, and so charming,” she said.
Raftery called Anita “the kindest person” he’s ever met. Meeting her father was initially intimidating for Anita, but she was reassured when he welcomed Raftery warmly, which she saw as a vote of confidence.
During their wedding, Anita was moved to tears when she spoke about how thoughtful Raftery was, adding that his intelligence deeply attracts her.
“He wrote his vows so thoughtfully that I wanted to rewrite mine. He always encourages me to step out of my comfort zone, which makes life exciting. I am grateful to share this life with you. I pray for a long, loving, healthy, wealthy, and peaceful life together. No matter what happens, we will always find each other. You will always be my person.”
