Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu has sparked debate after questioning why some married men turn to enhancement pills when engaging in extra-marital affairs.
Speaking during his show on Friday, December 12, 2025, Mwakideu addressed what he described as a growing trend of men choosing to “perform better” only when they are away from home.
In his remarks, the presenter wondered why some men feel pressured to impress partners outside their marriages, noting that the same effort is rarely shown at home.
“Ukiwa nyumbani, hauna haja ya tembe, ukienda away unataka ushinde ile away match,” he said, asking why the need for extra strength only arises in such situations.
Mwakideu used a series of rhetorical questions to challenge the mindset.

He questioned why men prioritise validation from outside partners, asking, “Mbona unataka kutamba away? By the way, mbona hutaki kutamba home?” He added that it puzzled him why the desire to perform is stronger in extra-marital settings, yet the same energy isn’t invested in their marriages.
Mwakideu also raised concerns about the competitive mentality some men seem to have when engaging in affairs. He asked who they were trying to impress and who placed them in a competition in the first place.
“Nani amewaweka kwa mashindano? Who are you competing against?” he posed.
The presenter suggested that men should reflect on their choices instead of chasing validation outside their homes.
“Pita sekunde yako moja yenye Mungu amekupatia,” he said.
While he did not shame or attack anyone directly, his questions show the emotional and social factors that lead some men to rely on enhancement pills during affairs. He urged men to reflect on their choices and focus on building stronger relationships at home instead of seeking validation elsewhere.
His comments have added to ongoing conversations around marital commitment, personal responsibility, and the pressure some men feel to prove themselves in situations outside their marriages.
This comes at a time when topics around sexual health, infidelity, and relationship expectations continue to gain attention in Kenya. Mwakideu’s remarks encourage men to examine their motivations and consider the impact of their decisions on themselves, their relationships, and their families.
