Alex Mwakideu celebrates 20 years in the broadcasting industry

Kiswahili Radio guru Alex Mwakideu is marking 20 years in the Broadcasting Industry with an exquisite party.

The Radio 47 presenter threw a major party at the Sarit Centre Alloy Lounge on November 20, to celebrate his broadcasting journey.

Those on the list appreciated the invite, which instructed guests that it was a black and gold affair.

Among the guests were Wilbroda aka Nyaminde, Mwende Macharia, Jalango, Mca Tricky, King Kaka, Dr Ofweneke, Obinna, Vijana Barubaru, and Churchill.

The two were former co-hosts on the Radio and were loved by their respective fans.

"Tunaongea, so we might start something very soon," he shared tidbits.

"Let me tell you as a presenter, when you get a new presenter, and are told you are now working with this person, you have been brought for someone like Jalas or MCA Tricky, and instructed to start with this one, you begin by quarreling and fighting. People dont know but behind the scenes, kuna vita sana by the way," Alex Mwakideu said.

He continued to narrate that it has been rewarding in as much as there have been struggles.

"It feels good, it feels amazing. Two decades is not a joke. So it feels really good to celebrate today. To see my people around here, it feels really amazing," Mwakideu said.

"The news anchor got stuck in traffic and I was told this is your time to shine. So kama unaweza piga," he said.

Luckily he had trained, and it wasn't as difficult as expected.

"So I went on air, did my best, and that's how I got employed"

He didn't study Journalism, so for him to land this major job was unexpected but wonderful

"Getting into media, we were doing commercials for the radio. I was an actor since I was a young boy, so we were doing commercials, acting tunalipwa sh5k per month, and then I started reading," the radio host explained.

He credits his success to his strictness. "Sipendangi ujinga, the peopel I have worked with can tell you, we used to fight after almost every show. "

He called out Jalang'o as the co-host he had the most difficult time with sharing a platform "Hasikii he used to give me a hard time hasikii na anajiamini tu"
