Woman Who Took Loan to Buy Boyfriend a Car Murdered in Kajiado

The body of the Moi University graduate who went missing 9 days ago was found in a thicket in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, on Sunday, January, 12.

The 29-year-old identified as Lydia Tokesi had reportedly gone missing for more than one week with the last time she was spotted alive being January 4 this year. Her mutilated body, which had serious signs of torture, was retrieved at Gataka Forest.

Following a long search by the family which bore no fruits, relatives were informed of a body they suspected to be of their missing kin.

Detectives stumbled upon a mutilated body and invited members of the family who positively identified her clothes at the scene of the murder.

Investigations into her disappearance and subsequent murder were launched and a DNA test is expected to be carried out to ascertain the identity of the body.

"The state of the body was so bad. You couldn't really identify it. It was missing some parts. It was in a thicket," Daniel Shikoli, the brother to Tokesi, told the press.

"We're waiting for the DNA tests to know if that body is Lydia's. After that, we'll get to know what happened," he added.

Troubled Relationship

According to the family, their missing kin was with her boyfriend on Saturday, January 4, whom she had been dating for over eight years. Investigations revealed that Lydia stayed with the suspect until January 4, when she was reported missing mysteriously.

The family claims that Tokesi had taken a bank loan and purchased a motor vehicle for the suspected killer boyfriend who operated it as a taxi in Nairobi.

The said vehicle was found abandoned near Lydia's parents' home with bloodstains raising questions over what might have transpired. Sleuths have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large.

As part of the investigations, detectives raided the suspect's house in Ongata Rongai and recovered several exhibits, which they believe will be instrumental in furthering their probe.

In their search, a love letter revealed that the two had a strained relationship which might be the reason behind the gruesome murder.

The family is now calling on the investigative agencies to hasten their probe and arrest the prime suspect.

"We are waiting for the DCI to come out to expedite the process, to let us know, what really happened," the family appealed.

Investigators have now swung into action combing the crime scene to unravel key details of the heinous murder that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
