Witness reveals Okoth Obado was in Raila Odinga's home at the time of Sharon's abduction

The murder trial against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Caspal Obiero and Michael Oyamo in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno continued on Wednesday as the 42nd witness was cross-examined.

Investigations officer Nicholas Ole Sena told the court that Obado was not at the scene of crime on the material day.

Ole Sena said that the investigations never established that Obado participated in the alleged abduction of Sharon.

"The investigation was that the deceased was abducted and then killed, we don't have any knowledge or evidence that he participated in the killing of Sharon," he told the court.

Lawyers representing Obado led by Kioko Kilikumi and Rodgers Sagana further wanted to know whether Obado consented to the alleged meetings between his co-accused and the deceased being held.

Ole Sena said there was no evidence that Obado had knowledge of the said meetings, adding that on the material day the ex-Governor was in Karen having a meeting at opposition chief Raila Odinga's home.

"I confirm that he was in Raila Odinga's place from 5pm to about 9pm," said the investigating officer.

He further said that the relationship between the former Migori County chief and Sharon was open-ended.

Ole Sena went on to assert that Obado did nothing wrong saying he is in court because of impregnating Sharon, but that that is not a crime since the deceased was an adult by law.

"It was never mentioned that the 1st accused (Obado) was present during the meetings, it was never disclosed whether the 1st accused had any knowledge or aware of the meeting at Gracia Hotel," he said.

He said the investigations also revealed that Obado had committed to buying a house for Sharon following the pregnancy.

"Indeed I confirm that the 1st accused (Obado) was to buy land and build a three-bedroom house in Homa Bay worth Ksh.3 million, according to a former MCA," he said.
