Prominent Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu was on Tuesday, September 9, shot dead in Karen, Nairobi.
According to reports, Mbobu, who was based in Nairobi, was attacked along Magadi Road while stuck in traffic.
According to witnesses and police reports, assailants riding on a motorcycle pulled up to his car and opened fire.
His vehicle’s windshield was shattered during the attack before the gunmen fired at least three shots, fatally wounding the lawyer.
In the wake of the attack, Mbobu slumped onto the driver’s seat as horrified motorists watched.
Police officers rushed to the scene, but the gunmen had already sped off after the shooting.

This incident comes months after Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were was shot dead in a brazen attack along Ngong Road in Nairobi.
In the incident that happened on Wednesday, April 30, the MP's vehicle had stopped at a traffic light near the City Mortuary roundabout when a motorcycle carrying two men pulled up beside it.
The pillion passenger reportedly walked toward the car and opened fire at close range before fleeing on the bike.
Witnesses said the gunman appeared to have singled out the MP, as his driver and bodyguard escaped unharmed.
Police later described the killing as targeted and premeditated, noting the precision with which it was executed.

"The nature of this crime appears to be both targeted and premeditated. At this stage, it is too early to provide further details. Senior police commanders and detectives are at the scene, piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death," the National Police Service (NPS) said.
Were was rushed to Nairobi Hospital by his aides immediately after the shooting but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The attack drew shock and condemnation across the country, with leaders describing it as a cold-blooded assassination that underscored growing concerns over insecurity.
