The National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, and the Westlands Member of Parliament, Tim Wanyonyi, have been thrown into mourning following the death of their elder brother, James Mukhwana Wetangula.
Wanyonyi broke the news of Mukhwana's death, describing the family's loss as 'painful and deeply unsettling'.
"It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my elder brother, Mwalimu James Mukhwana Wetang'ula," Wanyonyi wrote on his social media platforms.
"As a family, it is painful and deeply unsettling, but we remain grateful to God for the gift of his life. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus," he added.

Wanyonyi eulogised his late brother, describing him as a courageous man who fought his battles and ran his race with honour. According to the lawmaker, Mukhwana has left behind a legacy that will continue to guide the family.
"May your soul find everlasting peace until we meet again. Rest well, my brother," Wanyonyi commented.
For his part, Speaker Wetangula remembered his late brother as a humble, disciplined and wise man whose life touched many people.
According to Wetangula, Mukhwana was a devoted father, mentor, and pillar in the community, and his legacy as an educator and family man remains firmly in the hearts of many.
Despite announcing the death of his brother, Wetangula did not, however, reveal the cause of Mukhwana's demise but urged Kenyans to intercede for his family.
"We kindly ask for your prayers and support as we mourn his passing and honour his life. May his soul rest in eternal peace," Wetangula said.
Wetangula and his brother Wanyonyi join the list of a few lawmakers who were hit by tragedies this year. Among them is the Majority leader in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung'wah, who lost his father in September.
Another is Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, who lost her son Elvis Murakana Namenya in March this year following a grisly road accident.
