"Unga prices expected to drop below Ksh 100 by 2024" Agriculture CS Linturi assures kenyans

Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary, Mithika Linturi has said that the country will have a bumper harvest next year due to the short rains and the government’s efforts to subsidize farm inputs.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Amwamba Primary School, Akachiu Ward in Igembe South Constituency, Meru County, Linturi expressed optimism that with reduced prices of food, the cost of living will significantly reduce for most Kenyans.

Linturi said that maize meal prices are expected to drop below the Ksh.100 mark in early 2024, claiming that maizemeal is currently selling at Ksh.130 for a 2kg packet.

Maize flour prices are on average Ksh. 155.

“Kenya is moving in the right direction. Anyone telling you otherwise mwambie ni Uongo Because I'm there I'm telling you the truth. Ile kelele kidogo Mnaskia ya Economy itaisha. Juzi nlitembea Nairobi n I can confirm nliona Unga imeshuka hadi 130. Sahii Nasema imefika 119,” Linturi said.

The event was attended by local MPs, members of county assembly, and church leaders among other leaders.
