Former US President Donald Trump claimed on Monday that his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida was being "raided" by FBI agents in an act of "prosecutorial misconduct."

"These are dark times for our country," he said in a statement posted on his Truth Social network. "My beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents."

"It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately want me to run for President in 2024," Trump continued.

The FBI had not yet confirmed the search or stated its purpose, and Trump is the subject of numerous legal investigations.

The US Department of Justice is investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters, which is also being investigated by a House of Representatives committee.

However, Attorney General Merrick Garland has yet to name a single perpetrator.

"Everyone who is criminally responsible for attempting to overturn a legitimate election must be held accountable," he said recently, emphasizing that "no one is above the law."

Another investigation is looking into Trump's decision to take at least 15 boxes of government documents to Florida after losing the 2020 election.

Attempts to overturn the 2020 election results are also being investigated in Georgia, and his business practices are being investigated in New York.

The real estate mogul has not yet officially declared his candidacy for the presidential election in 2024, though he has made strong hints in recent months.

With President Joe Biden's approval rating currently below 40% and Democrats expected to lose control of Congress in the November midterm elections, Trump appears to be confident that he can ride the Republican wave all the way to the White House in 2024.
