Suspects involved in Victori Mumbua's murder linked to multiple killings of other taxi drivers

Taxi driver Victoria Mumbua accepted a ride request from the suspect Edwin Ng’etich from Mombasa to Samburu. Three days later, her body was discovered in a thicket in Lari, Kiambu County.

Detectives probing the mysterious murder of Victoria Muloki, a Mombasa-based taxi driver who was abducted and killed, have made a major breakthrough on the crime record of the main murder suspect.

Police have linked the suspect, Edwin Ng'etich, to several other murders in the country, suggesting a disturbing pattern of violence that points to him as a potential serial offender.

One of those crimes occurred in July 2024, when the suspect contracted another taxi driver before killing him, dumping his body and making away with his motor vehicle.

Detectives say the suspect contracted the slain taxi driver, George Njuguna, for a car hire business from Kisii to Nairobi. Somewhere along the way in Gilgil, police believe Ng'etich abducted his victim, murdered him, and dumped his body in Gilgil before making away with his motor vehicle.

The vehicle was later sold to a third person in Nakuru and has since been recovered. Police have also recovered another vehicle in Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County. Investigators revealed that the suspect opened up about the vehicle before taking them to its location.

Police are yet to establish the whereabouts of the owner of the car. Detectives believe the suspect might be part of a group that targets drivers before killing them and stealing their vehicles.

An autopsy of Mumbua's body is expected to take place on Monday.

Mumbua accepted a ride request from Ng’etich from Mombasa to Samburu. Three days later, her body was discovered in a thicket in Lari, Kiambu. Ng’etich was arrested driving her vehicle in Nakuru.
