Suffering from Low Libido? Here’s How to Naturally Increase Your Dwindling Sex Drive

Having a normal libido is relative. I mean, there is no right or wrong level of libido, and there is no ‘normal’ regarding how often someone has sex. While some people feel like having sex every day, others may have fewer sexual urges but still be considered normal. It all really depends on one’s preferences and life circumstances.
Low libido, on the other hand, can cause problems. Especially in intimate relationships. Low libido describes a decreased interest in sexual activity. It can be defined only by the person experiencing the low libido as they are the ones that know what they are comparing it to (their normal libido as they know it).
Libido levels vary throughout life. Also, losing interest in sex from time to time and your sexual interests not matching your partner’s at times are normal libido issues we might face at one point or another as human beings with sexual needs.
However, low libido for a long period of time may be a cause of concern for some people. It can even sometimes be an indicator of an underlying health condition. So it is something worth looking into.
“Avoidable” causes of low libido for both men and women include:
*Relationship problems
*Use of hormonal contraception like the pill, patch, or implant
*Sexual problems like vaginal dryness or erectile dysfunction
*Pregnancy and having a baby. (Hormone levels change when a woman is pregnant, and looking after a small baby can be stressful and exhausting.)
*Lower hormone levels as you get older, particularly during the menopause
*Stress, anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem
*Taking certain medications like antidepressants or meds for high blood pressure
*Chronic illness
*Drinking too much alcohol
Here’s how you can increase your sexual drive naturally.
Fixing low libido is highly dependent on the underlying issue, therefore making it mandatory that you identify the main cause. Once that is figured out, it is easy to try and correct the issue. There are a variety of different approaches that may enhance your sex drive naturally.
- Exercise
Regular aerobic exercises and strength training can increase stamina, improve your body image, lift your mood and boost your libido.
2. Eat more aphrodisiac fruits and foods
Dark chocolate, oysters, red wine, salmon, bananas, artichokes, figs, and asparagus are just some of those foods said to give your libido a little boost.
3. Find ways to release stress
Whether it’s hanging out with friends and having a good laugh, going for walks in nature, meditating, or indulging fully in activities that you enjoy doing could be a great way to release stress and consequently boost your libido.
4. Communicate with your partner
On matters sex drive, be honest with your partner and let them know what you are going through. Who knows, they might even be able to help get your mojo in the sack back once they know what you’re going through. Also, work on your relationship and build trust with your partner if the state of your relationship is what is affecting your libido.
5. Set aside time for intimacy
Take your sex life seriously and find ways to help yourself get your “normal libido” back. Be intentional with trying to get your normal libido back. Flirt with your partner, shower together, date each other, and forget about bringing books, phones, and laptops to bed.
6. Add a little spice to your sex life
Fight for your sex life! Try out sex challenges which you can easily find on the net. Set the mood with candles and music, do some role-playing, talk dirty to each other if it is your thing or even go on a little vacation with your partner away from the busyness of life and create new memories while being in a different place that is not your bedroom.
7. Ditch bad habits and limit your alcohol intake
Just simply uproot the bad habits (you know them) from your day-to-day life.
8. Take the supplement “Yohimbine“
Yohimbine is an alkaloid found in the bark of the West African evergreen and has been said to work similarly to Viagra. Need I say more?
9. Try some herbal teas
Ginseng, L-arginine, Ginkgo Biloba, and maca are said to have libido-boosting properties. Find teas that have these ingredients in them.
10. Get plenty of sleep
A hectic lifestyle can be a bedroom mood killer. But you can boost your energy and sex drive by getting the right amount of sleep. So do take naps whenever you get a chance, especially if you operate a busy schedule.
11. Consult a doctor
Consulting a doctor is always a good idea even if it’s just for them to validate your concerns and give you encouraging tips (which you may already know of from reading this piece) that you can use to boost your libido and not for them to give you medicine. We trust our doctors and they also do come in handy.
PS: It is important to remember that every person is different. It may take a little experimentation to find out what works best for you. Good luck!
