The Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC) selection panel has invited applications from qualified persons for the appointment of its new chairperson.
In a communiqué made through the dailies on Monday, the selection panel said that those interested should hold a degree from a recognised university in Kenya, have a 10-year experience in public management, finance and administration, economics, human resource management or labour laws.
Other requirements include understanding the labour market trends in Kenya relating to income in private and public sectors, understanding chapter six of the constitution and bearing an illustrious career.
The position's candidate will be tasked with ensuring the commission meets its mandate as outlined in Article 230(4) and 239of the Constitution, chair the commission's meetings, help the commission in forming policies, provide strategic direction to the commission as per the law and maintain firm linkages with stakeholders and government sectors.
Interested persons will not be allowed to submit their applications if they are a Member of Parliament or the County Assembly, belong to a political party, are bankrupt, or have been removed from office for breaching the law.
Applicants should include a CV of not more than 6 pages, copies of academic and professional certificates, national ID or passport, and other supporting documents which include clearance certificates from the EACC, HELB, KRA, CRB, CUE and DCI.
The selection panel insists that the application should be marked as "application for the position of chairperson, Salaries and Remunerations Commission".
Submissions can be made manually to the Ministry of Public Service at Harambee House or emailed to selectionpanelsrc2024@psy.go.ke on or before September 23, 2024, at 5pm.
The SRC chairperson role is occupied for a 6-year term and the current chairperson, Lyn Mengich, will be exiting after taking office in September 2018.
Names of applicants, shortlisted candidates and interview schedules shall be published in the Kenya Gazette after the application period lapses.
