Sports CS Ababu Namwamba booed off stage by the audience during Fred Omondi's memorial service

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba booed off stage by the audience during Fred Omondi's memorial service

Comedian and radio host Daniel Ndambuki, popularly known as Churchill, intervened on Friday, June 21 night during comedian Fred Omondi’s memorial service, after a segment of the audience began chanting anti-government slogans.

The disturbance occurred when Sports and Entertainment Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba attempted to address the congregation at Carnivore grounds.

Members of the audience started chanting "Ruto must go," and some even moved to prevent the CS from speaking.

Ababu Namwamba's efforts to calm the situation were unsuccessful, prompting event host Churchill Ndambuki to swiftly step in and address the disruption.

However, attempts by the comedian to calm the adamant anti-government protestors failed, forcing Churchill to halt the event temporarily.

Following the disruption, the CS returned the microphone to the comedian and walked away, flanked by his bodyguards.

The event, dubbed Last Laugh, featured several comedians who had gathered to pay their final respects to their colleague, Fred Omondi, who passed away a week ago.

Fred Omondi died in a road accident along the Kangundo highway in Nairobi.
