Siaya Dp Governor Oduol To Seek Help Of Elders And Churches To Reconcile With Orengo

Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol has said that he intends to seek the help of elders and churches to reconcile with his boss, Governor James Orengo.

This after he survived impeachment on Monday after a majority of Senators voted against the bid to remove him from office.

Twenty-seven Senators voted against the two grounds that the Senate Special Committee probing his impeachment by the Siaya County Assembly had found to have been proven and substantiated.

The move to oust DG Oduol started when he had a bone to chew with Governor Orengo, a tiff that irked most MCAs and leaders.

Speaking after the triumph, DG Oduol vowed to serve Siaya residents in dignity in harmony with Governor Orengo.

"I want to thank God for this victory and I equally want to thank the Senate for the very fair impartial deliberations I have heard and I want to assure the people of Siaya that our primary calling is service to them," he said.

"I am looking forward to going back to Siaya to join Governor James Orengo in providing effective and efficient service to the people of Siaya County. I want to use the elders and churches to help us bridge this divide."

Oduol was being probed after he was linked to allegations of gross violation of the constitution, misuse of public resources, and other laws.

MCAs who were pushing for his ouster said that the DG not only bullied county workers but also tried to influence which contractor would be paid.
