Gloria Adhiambo, a female 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) student who schooled at Nyalgunga Primary School has been left perplexed after being called to join Lenana School, a boys institution.

Adhiambo who was the top performing student at her primary school was called up to the famed institution, leading to questions about the criteria used to place her.

Initially, when she received the letter she was overwhelmed at receiving a calling letter from a school in Nairobi, but did not bother to cross-check which school it was in specifically.

"This is the calling letter I got. I didn't know it was a boys' school. I only realised that it was not a girls' school when I did more research in anticipation of joining school," Gloria remarked while speaking to journalists.

Her family has now thrown into limbo, not knowing what to and the steps to take especially since they wanted her to join school as soon as possible.

While picking the schools that she wanted to join, Adhiambo settled on Alliance Girls, Kisumu Girls, and Starehe Girls.

"People were happy that I was called to a good school but we are now left perplexed. We don't even know how to approach well wishers for financial help since I need facilitation to join high school," said Gloria.

As such, Gloria is now seeking help from the relevant authorities since she did not receive any other calling letter.

"I would like to join Kisumu Girls High School but I am afraid because my parents may not take me there due to lack of school fees," she said.

Through her mother, she has tried applying for scholarships across different charities, but all have proved futile.

Meanwhile, form one students are yet to be admitted since they are scheduled to report to school on January 15.
