Several students from Mbooni girls high school rushed to hospital after an accident along Kikima-Machakos Highway

Several Students from Mbooni Girls High School were on Saturday rushed to hospital after they sustained injuries following a road accident along the Kikima-Machakos Highway.

 

The accident occurred after the bus which was full of students and heading to Machakos town reportedly lost control and overturned along the highway.

 

Following the incident, a rescue team was quickly dispatched to the scene and helped to evacuate the students who were trapped inside the wreckage.

 

Those injured were rushed to the Machakos and Kikima level 5 hospitals for treatment as rescue efforts intensified. 

 

The images depicted the bus completely damaged on one of its sides and with pieces of glass strewn all over the highway.

 

However, the exact number of those injured is yet to be established, nonetheless, no deaths were reported from the accident.

 

The accident resulted in a huge traffic snarl-up along the steep highway. Meanwhile, the residents also joined in the efforts to help out the injured learners.

 

At the time of publishing this article, police officers were yet to arrive at the scene of the tragedy.

 

The accident comes hardly two months after another accident occurred along the same highway involving high school students. 

 

According to a police report, the May 13 accident occurred after the matatu the students were travelling in lost control and rolled severally at Kwa Mbisu, Nthungoni area in Makueni County.  

 

The passengers were rushed to Mbooni Sub County Hospital where they received treatment. Similarly, no fatalities were reported.

 

The accident happened when students were going back to school after an extended holiday due to floods that were experienced in the country.
