Ruto: I'm eager to witness any Member of Parliament voting against the Finance Bill

President William Ruto has described the ongoing public debate surrounding the Finance Bill of 2023 as insincere. During a church service in Leshuta, Narok County, on Sunday.

The president stated that leaders affiliated with the Azimio La Umoja alliance oppose the bill simply because they are in the opposition.

He emphasized that even opposition leaders support the housing plan proposed in the bill, suggesting that they would express similar views if they were in power.

President Ruto believes that all leaders agree on the benefits of the housing levy outlined in the Finance Bill, and he urged for its passage to foster Kenya's development.

Addressing the suggestion that MPs should disclose their votes on the bill, Ruto expressed his anticipation of any MP who would reject it.

He dismissed the arguments against the housing levy, stating, "Those urging us to delay the implementation of the housing levy need to understand that delay hurts.

" The budget for 2023/2024 is scheduled to be presented to Parliament on June 15. Although the Azimio coalition has indicated its intention to resume anti-government protests if the controversial bill is not reviewed," Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asserted that the bill will pass in its current form.
