Revealed: Inside Pastor Kanyari’s KSh 91 Million Plan To Take Back His Children

Weeks after the death of gospel singer Betty Bayo, her former husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, has indicated that he is ready to take full responsibility for their two children.

Betty passed away on Monday, November 10, while undergoing treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia.

Her death triggered intense public debate over the future of her children, Sky and Danivictor, with online discussions centering on whether custody should remain with their stepfather, Hiram Gitau alias Tash, or be transferred to their biological father, Pastor Kanyari.

Since Betty’s passing, the children have continued living at the Edenville home with Tash, who had been raising them alongside their mother.

Kanyari Explains Why He Previously Held Back

Speaking during a recent sermon at Salvation Healing Ministries, Pastor Kanyari told congregants that he is now prepared to take custody of his children, explaining that his earlier restraint was deliberate.

According to the preacher, he chose not to act hastily out of respect for the role Tash had played in the children’s lives.

“There is the father who sired them and the one who raised them. We are two fathers,” Kanyari said. “That is why I did not rush. I am not a violent person. If I wanted conflict, I would have gone there with people and demanded my children. But I did not want war.”

He added that his focus had been on maintaining peace during a highly emotional period for everyone involved.

Kanyari Reveals Multi-Million Runda Home Plan

During the same sermon, Kanyari disclosed that he had secured a residence in Runda, where he plans to live with the children and Betty’s sister.

He told the congregation that the house, valued at approximately KSh 91 million, is fully processed and ready for occupation.

“I have bought a house so that the children can live there together with Betty’s sister,” he said. “The house was going for around KSh 90 million. All the documentation is complete. I think this week I may take them and stay with them. I will raise them.”

Uncertainty Over How Custody Will Be Handled

Despite the announcement, the preacher did not explain how the custody transition would be carried out or whether formal legal steps would be involved.

This lack of clarity has left the public waiting to see whether discussions will take place between Kanyari, Tash, and Betty’s extended family before any move is made.

Netizens React to Kanyari’s Statement

Kanyari’s remarks sparked mixed reactions online, with netizens expressing varied opinions on what they believe would be best for the children.

Tonny Gachuru wrote: “Parental love is not about paying school fees, buying food and clothes, but about growing together with your children and being available all the time.”

Arita Coaches commented: “The children love you as their biological father, but they seem more comfortable living with Tash for now. That is a difficult reality, and maybe they need time to heal.”

Josphn Janty added: “Give them time to heal, otherwise you may lose them emotionally.”

Ole Kish wrote: “Chukua watoto ulewe, wewe ndio baba na mama yao.”

Background: Why the Custody Debate Has Intensified

The custody debate escalated after Betty’s mother publicly raised concerns about the children remaining under Tash’s care.

She called on Pastor Kanyari to take responsibility for them and urged authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding Betty’s death, alleging that her burial was rushed.

The situation has continued to draw widespread public attention, with family members, church leaders and online commentators weighing in.

As of now, no official custody arrangement has been confirmed, and both families are yet to publicly outline an agreed path forward for Sky and Danivictor.
