Revealed: Eldoret 'tycoon' who opened police base partied with Zari Hassan, enjoyed VIP police escort

Collins Leitich, better known as Chepkulei or ‘General,’ isn’t your ordinary businessman.

He is a towering, larger-than-life figure who moves with the air of a high-ranking government official, except he isn't one.

His true source of wealth remains a mystery, but his lifestyle clearly indicates that he is a man of means.

From police escorts clearing traffic for him to high-profile parties featuring celebrities like Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan, Chepkulei has crafted an image of power and influence.

His social media pages are filled with private jet rides, designer outfits, and exclusive events that scream money. He doesn’t just mingle with top cops; he rolls like one.

But now, the self-proclaimed ‘General’ is in hot water after being linked to a controversial police patrol base, one he allegedly set up with the full blessings of senior police officers.

For the average Kenyan, traffic is a daily struggle. But not for Chepkulei. Viral videos show police outriders clearing the road for him as he speeds to Eldoret International Airport.

In another clip, suited men resembling elite security personnel, flank him as he steps out of a high-end vehicle, treating him like a government bigwig.

His connections in the police force are undeniable, but now, those same officers want him behind bars.

Chepkulei has never been shy about flaunting his wealth. In 2022, he made headlines after spending over Sh250,000 on an all-white party headlined by Zari Hassan.

But their interactions didn’t stop there. He claims to have met her multiple times in Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa, all in the name of "empowering young entrepreneurs."

But beyond the glitz and glamour, he has a personal story. His baby mama allegedly left him when their son was just four months old (now, six years) he claimed to be raising the boy to be "a perfect man."

In Cherus trading centre, a building painted in National Police Service colours stood tall, the now-controversial Cheboror Patrol Base.

Chepkulei insists he had the blessings of top police bosses to establish the post, claiming he was only trying to help curb insecurity in the area.

"I sought guidance from the regional commander, and he told me that if we got a permanent building for officers, they would give us personnel," he said in an interview with The Standard.

But now, the same officers who allegedly supported him want him arrested.

Chepkulei does not subscribe to the "hustler" mentality. He openly urges fellow Kalenjin men to abandon cultural restraints on spending.

"When you don’t spend money, you die, and your fortunes remain in the bank," he once declared.

And he lives by his words, splashing cash on designer outfits, front-row VIP tables, and jet-set experiences.
