Dozens of youthful Kisumu residents marched on the streets joining other Kenyans in the nationwide anti-government protests planned for today.
The peaceful demonstrators waved anti-government placards and sang songs as they walked towards Jomo Kenyatta highway.
An antiriot police barrier was erected at the junction of the central bank leading to the Kisumu State Lodge which was heavily guarded.
The protestors sat on the tarmac at the police barrier as they asked the President to resign and vacate office just like he fired the Cabinet Secretaries. They say the whole administration has failed.
They also condemned the police killings during peaceful protests and called for action against those who are behind the extra judicial killings.
Protestors also called on the government to shed more light on the Kware killings saying they believe the government might have had a hand in them.
In Migori, majority of businesses remained closed and transport activities paralyzed to a greater percentage. Most of the shops were closed and that a countable number of public services vehicles were operating along the Migori-Rongo highway.
The roads have not been barricaded and the bodaboda riders have been operating normally. Police presence has been witnessed at several spots within Migori town. The handful of protesters have been spotted playing football on the Migori-Isebania road.
The protesters led by Peter Owuor said they will continue with their protest until the Head of State deals with all the issues raised by the Gen Z. Owuor said the head of state is yet to tackle a number of their demands and therefore they must continue to push him.
He also said they are not happy that the Head of State has embarked on road side campaigns giving many promises yet Kenyans need action.
The protesters have also indicated that they are not interested in dialogue as they have outlined their demands to president Ruto.
