President William Ruto carried his trademark touch of luxury to Ethiopia during his tour, pairing his smart casual look with a striking set of designer sunglasses.
In photos shared on his official social media pages, the Head of State was seen wearing a presidential shirt, black trousers, and classic leather shoes as he arrived for the launch of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
The finishing flourish, however, was a pair of Cartier Signature CT0330S sunglasses, an accessory that instantly elevated the ensemble.
Retailing between $1,200 (Sh154,800) and $1,400 (Sh180,600), with authorised retailer Eyeons listing them at $1,295 (Sh167,055), the sunglasses are a statement piece in their own right.
They feature a sleek rectangular shape with Cartier’s signature “C” décor on the hinges, finished in metal for a refined but unmistakably bold look.
Eyewear experts Otticanet describe the CT0330S model as a perfect fusion of Cartier’s long-standing jewellery craftsmanship with contemporary eyewear design.
The frame combines shiny silver with black accents and grey lenses, all constructed to feel lightweight while retaining a sense of luxury.
The discreet Cartier plaque on the temple tips cements the brand’s meticulous attention to detail.Practical as well as stylish, the sunglasses come with a category 3 sun protection rating, offering strong shielding against bright sunlight.
The lenses also provide full UVA and UVB protection, ensuring comfort as well as safeguarding eye health.
Cartier, founded in 1847, has built its reputation on excellence and exclusivity.
Known for working with precious materials and maintaining artisanal standards, the maison’s eyewear pieces are regarded not merely as accessories but as investment items, with lasting value and status.

Their enduring appeal among royalty, celebrities, and global leaders further cements Cartier’s prestige.
But Ruto’s fondness for luxury fashion is hardly new.
In July, eagle-eyed football fans spotted him at the CHAN Kenya vs Zambia match sporting Ferragamo Gancini suede low-top sneakers worth about $980 (Sh126,420).
Just weeks earlier, he had been photographed in the Maasai Mara wearing a rare antique Rolex Daytona valued at over Sh6 million.
