Wicknell Chivayo Funeral: Sharp Boys Turn Procession Into A Sea Of Luxury Rolls Royce
The funeral procession for Zimbabwean businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, turned parts of Harare into a spectacle of luxury as a fleet of high-end vehicles accompanied the couple’s bodies on their final journey.
The procession took place on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, as the bodies were collected from Doves Funeral Services in Harare’s central business district and taken to the Chivayo family’s Gletwin residence, where they were to lie in state.
A convoy dominated by several Rolls-Royce models led the procession, drawing the attention of large crowds who lined the streets to witness the high-profile event.
The luxury display was complemented by what Kenyans would commonly describe as “sharp boys” — smartly dressed men who turn up in stylish outfits and present a polished, sophisticated appearance.
In Kenyan urban slang, “sharp boys” is often used to describe young men who are well-dressed, fashionable and keen on their appearance.
The term can also carry an association with a flashy lifestyle, particularly when expensive clothes, cars and other symbols of status are involved.
At the Chivayo funeral procession, the phrase captures the striking combination of sharply dressed attendees and a collection of some of the world’s most recognisable luxury vehicles.
The procession also reflected Chivayo’s public image as a businessman known for his lavish lifestyle and love of expensive cars.

The appearance of multiple Rolls-Royces added to the sense of grandeur surrounding the couple’s final journey.
The spectacle attracted significant attention in Harare, with residents gathering along the route as the convoy made its way through the city.
The bodies were transported to the family’s Gletwin home for the lying-in-state period ahead of the couple’s funeral.
Chivayo and Muteke died following a fatal aircraft crash, with their deaths prompting widespread mourning and public interest in the circumstances surrounding their final journey.
As preparations for their burial continued, the procession offered a glimpse of the scale and luxury surrounding the farewell to one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent and flamboyant businessmen.
