President Ruto slams the opposition for attempting to halt his development plans

President William Ruto has slammed the opposition for castigating the Affordable Housing project and his other development plans set to create employment in the country.

Ruto, while speaking in Meru County on Thursday, where he commissioned the construction of the Timau project, affirmed that the affordable housing project will provide viable employment opportunities to the youth.

He mocked the opposition's attempts to halt his projects through planned protests and court cases, maintaining that he will remain committed to deliver on his promises.

“These people have toyed with us for many years. I want to say this time they can’t lie to us again. We have a comprehensive plan," said Ruto.

"So I want to ask the opposition, instead of spreading propaganda they should show Kenyans. Our plan is housing; our plan is digital jobs and export of labour. What is their plan.”

He continued to state that his government is the first one in Kenya to have a clear roadmap of how it can create job opportunities.

"This is the administration that has a deliberate, intentional plan in creating jobs in Kenya," Ruto noted.

The Timau project will have 320 units constructed as Ruto expressed confidence that it will create more than 4,000 jobs and inject more than Ksh.230 Million into the local economy.

He went on to state that he plans to build around 10,000 houses in the county, adding that 130,000 youth have so far been employed through the project.

President Ruto was accompanied by his Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Housing Principal Secretary (PS) Charles Hinga, Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza among other Meru leaders.

Ruto will be camping in Meru for the next two days to commission a number of projects.

He has also launched similar projects in Nakuru, Nandi and Trans-Nzoia counties.
