President Ruto set to deliver a State of the Nation address in Parliament on Thursday, November 21

President William Ruto will deliver his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, November 21, Speaker Moses Wetangula has announced.

The address is a constitutional requirement for the president to annually outline all the measures and the progress made towards the realisation of the country's values.

This is in line with Article 132 (1) (c) of the Constitution which requires the president to publish in the Gazette and also submit the report to Parliament for debate.

"I wish to inform the House that I received a communication from the president conveying that he intends to deliver the 2024 State of the Nation pursuant to Article 132 (1) of the Constitution on Thursday, November 21," Wetangula announced.

"I wish to notify all members that a joint sitting of parliament will take place on Thursday at 2:00 pm in the National Assembly. I direct the clerk to ensure the notification of the joint sitting is published in Kenya Gazette for the information of members and the general public."

In his address, the president is expected to touch on key issues that form the backbone of his administration.

These include the Affordable Housing, Hustler Fund, domestic and external debt, Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), and university funding model among others.
