President Ruto nominates Sammy Chepkwony as the Chairperson of Salaries and Remuneration Commission

President William Ruto has nominated Sammy Chepkwony as the Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff, Felix Koskei, said the nomination followed recommendations from the selection panel to fill the vacant slot.
Koskei said the President settled on Sammy Chepkwony as chairperson nominee to succeed Lyn Mengich whose six-year tenure ended in September.
Mengich held the position since September 2018.
Applicants for the post were required to be holders of a degree from a recognised university in Kenya, have a 10-year of experience in public management, finance and administration, economics, human resource management or labour laws.
“The nominee (Chepkwony) is an accomplished human resource professional with over 30 years' experience in human resource and organizational development,” Koskei said.
Holders of the office are also expected to have good understanding of the labour market trends in the country relating to income in private and public sectors, and one well versed on the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution.
Chepkwony is currently the Managing Director and chief executive officer at People Centric Management Limited.
His career started at PriceWaterHouse Coopers (PWC) as a senior consultant but he has held various other senior positions.
These include chairperson at Tata Chemicals Magadi Provident Fund, HR Director at Kenya Airways, James Finlay Kenya, HR Manager at Nairobi Bottlers Ltd and Regional Human Resource Director at Aga Khan University.
Chepkwony holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce (Business Administration) degree from the University of Nairobi.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Human Resources Management, a member of the Institute of Directors-Kenya, a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) Kenya and has completed a Trustee Development Program.
