President Ruto expected to travel to India on Monday for bilateral talks

President William Ruto is scheduled to travel to India on Monday for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to a statement issued by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Monday, the talks will focus on strengthening ties in critical sectors and will conclude with the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

The areas include agriculture, trade, investment promotion, healthcare, particularly in pharmaceutical production and capacity building, education, ICT, maritime affairs, and renewable energy.

Ruto is also expected to meet India's President Droupadi Murmu and speak at a trade and investment forum, highlighting the potential for economic cooperation between India and Kenya, according to Spokesperson Mohamed.

"The State Visit marks a significant milestone in the relationship between Kenya and India, providing a platform for collaborative initiatives and contributing to mutual benefits for the two nations and peoples," said Mohamed.

This follows President Ruto's visit to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where he attended the ongoing 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28).

Ruto, whose visit was announced to run from November 30 to December 2, led African heads of state at the Africa Green Industrialization Initiative, which aims to accelerate and scale green industries and businesses across Africa.
