President William Ruto has appointed Renson Mulele Ingonga as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
In a gazette notice on Wednesday, Ruto noted that Ingonga will serve in the position for an eight-year term.
Ingonga's appointment comes a week after he was approved by Members of Parliament after a rigorous vetting exercise.
In the vetting report, the committee recommended his appointment based on his general knowledge of public litigations as well as his background knowledge of the operations of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions having worked there for several years.
Mulele will take over from Noordin Haji who is now the Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
Prior to his nomination, he was serving as the Assistant DPP.
