Police officer arrested for assisting protesters in stoning police station

A police officer has been arrested in Nzaui sub-county, Makueni county, for his alleged involvement in rioting activities and possession of illegal drugs.

Police reports indicate that the officer identified as Constable Evans Otieno was apprehended while engaging with a group of young men who were blocking the road and throwing stones at passing motorists on Thursday, July 20. The officer's actions raised suspicion, prompting authorities to investigate further.

A day prior to his arrest, on July 19, Otieno was reportedly spotted among the rioters who attacked the Emali Police station and its officers.

During the officer's arrest, a quick search revealed that he was in possession of 40 rolls of bhang, with an estimated street value of approximately Ksh2,000.
