"Plans are underway to return Kenya's stolen artefacts" Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage CS nominee Stella Lang'at says

Stella Lang'at Soi, Cabinet Secretary Nominee for Gender, Culture, Arts, and Heritage, told the National Assembly Appointments Committee on Sunday that plans are being made to repatriate stolen Kenyan artefacts.

According to Soi, museums and national monuments are a top priority for the Kenya Kwanza government, and plans are in the works to renovate them and make them more appealing to local and foreign tourists.

"Plans are already underway to strengthen museums' role in advocating for the return of Kenya's stolen artefacts,"Soi told the committee.

"All the artefacts that were taken from this country will be returned to the National Museum."

At the same time, the CS nominee stated that Kenya's branding and marketing should be revamped to reflect its diverse cultural offerings and rich heritage.

Soi stated that if appointed Cabinet Secretary, she will focus on marketing Kenya's unique heritage.

"The issue of branding and marketing is a very big issue for our country, and there is a need to do more," she said.

At the same time, she revealed that President Ruto has been invited to present Kenya's rich heritage and culture at an annual German event.

According to Soi, the invitation presents an excellent opportunity for Kenya to promote its culture and unique attractions in order to boost tourism.

"This will be a great opportunity to brand our country, to sell our rich heritage and expose what we have; our food, our culture, our language and our artifacts," She said on Sunday.

"I believe this will be a lanching pad for this country, and I believe we will be able to have a replica for other countries."

During her vetting, the CS nominee was also asked to explain how her ministry would address Kenya's rising rates of femicide and gender-based violence.

According to Soi, the priority will be to mainstream gender desks at police stations where incidents are reported.

She stated that under the current system, gender desks are staffed by women, making it difficult for male victims to report incidents.

The CS nominee also spoke of the search for the elusive Kenya's National Dress, telling the committee that a taskforce appointed to come up with an outfit that captures the diverse Kenyan heritage was underway with the task.

She stated that a national dress will foster a sense of patriotism, encourage local manufacturing, and help market Kenya's rich culture.
