The National Youth Service (NYS) on Wednesday announced a nationwide recruitment drive for both male and female volunteers.
Taking to its social media platforms, NYS announced that the recruitment drive will kick off from February 5 to February 9, 2024.
Orphans who meet the qualification requirements will be given special preference but must first produce sufficient documentary proof such as parents' death certificates or burial permits.
"Persons with disability are also encouraged to avail themselves for the recruitment exercise in their respective sub counties and centres provided they can withstand the rigorous physical training," NYS disclosed.
“The Kenya National Youth Service wishes to announce to the general public that the recruitment drive will be carried throughout the Republic," NYS announced.
To get absorbed into the service, the prospective candidate must meet the set threshold listed by NYS.
Among the requirements for the volunteers include being a Kenyan citizen and also a resident of the respective Sub-County of recruitment. The applicant must also be within the 18 to 24 years age bracket.
Additionally, they must possess a mean Grade of D plain and above in KCSE.
While attending the recruitment drive, the applicant must present an Original National Identity Card, along with all the academic certificates, and a set of photocopies.
Other requirements include a certificate of Good Conduct and being willing to undergo medical check-ups during and after the recruitment exercise.
Volunteers must also be prepared to undertake rigorous physical training.
According to NYS, the volunteers should also be willing to give voluntary service to the nation in any part of the Republic.
"Successful candidates will report for the NYS paramilitary Course at NYS College, Gilgil, and NYSTTI Naivasha on dates and times specified in their respective calling letters to be issued," NYS noted.
NYS however warned applicants against canvassing and engaging in any other fraudulent activities to gain entry into the service. Any form of corruption will lead to automatic disqualification and could also lead to prosecution, according to the management.
