Nyahururu: Parents seek justice for their 17-year-old son who was tortured for hours

A family from Kisima village, in the Gatimu Ward of the Ol-Joro Orok Constituency, is seeking justice after their son was allegedly tortured for hours before dying of injuries at the Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital on Saturday night.

According to the family, Stephen Njuguna, 17, went to a local shop in Nyahururu town to buy clothes, but the attendants suspected he was planning to steal and frog-marched him to a room where he was tortured for two hours.

The Form Two learner at Riverside Secondary School became unconscious after the ordeal, but after some time, he regained consciousness where wellwishers asked him to provide them with his parents' contacts.

The bereaved parents, James Muraya and Mary Wangechi, described how their son appeared weak and decided to look for ways to take him to the hospital, but they were informed shortly after their arrival that he had died.

A report was filed at the Nyahururu Police Station, and police officers began investigating the matter.

According to police sources, five suspects were brought to court on Monday, where a plea to detain them for several days was entered to allow the DCI to conduct a thorough investigation.

According to a postmortem report, the victim died as a result of severe chest and abdominal injuries, along with internal bleeding.

Neighbours and residents are gathering at the parents' home to make funeral arrangements
