NTSA Suspends 62 Drivers Of PSV Companies For Safety Breaches

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended the licences of 62 drivers from six public transport companies following a compliance review that uncovered multiple safety breaches.

In a statement released on Tuesday, December 9, the Authority said the affected drivers will be required to undergo mandatory retesting before their licences can be reinstated.

“This action follows a compliance assessment that revealed multiple violations and serious safety concerns,” NTSA noted.

Among the operators whose licences were suspended are Tahmeed Express Limited (23) Latema Travelers Bus and Safari Company Limited (13), Meru Nissan Operators Sacco (10), Moline Prestige Services Shuttle Limited (6) MTrans Sacco Limited(7) and Enabled Mashariki Investment Limited (3)

Beyond the driver retests, the Authority has directed the implicated operators to conduct road safety awareness training for all their drivers and to present selected vehicles for inspection.

“The driver re-testing exercise is part of broader proactive measures aimed at ensuring every driver possesses the requisite skills and competencies to safely operate on our roads,” the statement added.

NTSA further indicated that several public transport operators remain under scrutiny as part of ongoing efforts to enforce adherence to established safety standards.

“These actions highlight our firm and ongoing commitment to road safety, particularly during this festive season,” the Authority said.
