Nairobi Man Charged With Attacking Married Woman For Rejecting Him and Blocking His Calls

A man has been charged in court after allegedly attacking and robbing a married woman he had persistently pursued despite her rejections.

Ambrose Imoh is accused of robbery with violence against Martha Mwikali, contrary to Section 295 as read with Section 296(2) of the Penal Code. The incident occurred on August 13 at Kwa Maji in Njiru Sub-County, Nairobi.

According to police records, Imoh had been stalking Mwikali despite her repeated warnings that she was married and not interested in an extramarital relationship. When she eventually blocked his phone calls and messages, he allegedly confronted her at her shop, seized her mobile phone worth Sh15,000, and assaulted her.

A pastor who witnessed the incident told investigators that Imoh had asked to speak briefly with Mwikali before grabbing her phone and attacking her following a heated exchange.

Mwikali reported the matter to her husband, who appealed to Imoh to return the phone peacefully. Authorities initially gave the accused an opportunity to resolve the matter amicably by compensating the complainant for the harassment and assault. However, Imoh allegedly refused, prompting officers from Mowlem Police Station to arrest him at his workplace, where they reportedly recovered the stolen phone.

In court, Imoh admitted he had strong feelings for Mwikali but said she had disrespected him by rejecting his advances.

He was released on a bond of Sh300,000 without the option of cash bail. The case is scheduled for mention on October 30.

In June, a woman from Clay City in Nairobi’s Kasarani sub-county denied claims that she stormed her parents’ bedroom and assaulted her father for confronting her mother over family issues.

Esther Wangare Ndwiga was arraigned before Makadara Law Courts on charges of assaulting her 52-year-old father, E.N.K., in an incident said to have taken place on the night of June 19.

According to court documents, the complainant was in his bedroom reading when his wife, son, and daughter were in the living room. At around 10:00 pm, the wife went to her bedroom, prompting the complainant to follow her for a private discussion.

He allegedly raised concerns about his wife secretly visiting one of their daughters without informing him and warned her against making early morning calls to strangers.

What was meant to be a private conversation reportedly took a dramatic turn when Wangare, who was allegedly eavesdropping, barged into the bedroom armed with a chapati rolling stick. She allegedly threatened her father, warning him to stop disturbing her mother.

She was released on a cash bail of Sh30,000 pending mention of the case in July for pre-trial.
