Mwangaza breaks her silence after husband was grilled by DCI over blogger’s murder

Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza broke her silence after her husband Murega Baichu was grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

Mwangaza's sister Miriam Guantai also recorded her statements on Monday, January 15, 2024, concerning the brutal murder.

"Calm in the midst of the storm. Lies can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on shoes. We shall overcome gloriously with God's grace!" she stated.

Speaking in Meru, DCI's Eastern region coordinator Lenny Kisaka said the two family members recorded statements in Meru DCI offices.

“Yes the two recorded statements and we are still going on with investigations and we will continue to inform the public on the progress,” Kisaka said.

Sniper went missing on December 2, 2023, before his body was found at River Mutonga in Tharaka Nithi county on December 16.

The DCI declared Mwangaza's official residence a crime scene in connection with the murder.

“A team of homicide and forensic science are inside here because this is mapped as one of the major scenes we are visiting and carrying out investigation we will collect everything necessary to ensure that sniper get justice,” Kisaka added.

According to the DCI, one of the suspects, Vincent Murithi alias Supuu wa Mioro, lured the deceased through a phone call that the governor wanted to meet him for a truce before he travelled from his home at Kabuitu in Igembe South.
