Residents of Mukuyu village, Kiharu Sub County in Murang'a County, were left in shock after a woman is alleged to have fatally stabbed her husband in a suspected love triangle.
The woman had been left in the house with her daughter as the victim went to the market to shop.
While the husband was away, a woman is said to have gone to their house asking about the man's whereabouts.
The woman identified herself as the man's girlfriend, which infuriated the suspect to the point the woman fled for her life.
It is reported that upon his return, the woman confronted her husband about the other woman who visited their house, however, he denied knowing her.
In the heat of the moment, the wife is said to have reached for a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband.
The neighbors heard screams as the couple's six-year-old daughter found her father in a pool of blood.
When neighbours arrived at the house, they found the man dead and the woman locked herself in the bedroom.
The villagers reported the case to police officers at Murang'a Police Station, and the body of the deceased was taken to Murang'a Level 5 Hospital for a postmortem.
The widow was arrested pending further investigations.
