Metereological department warns of heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday this week

There will be exceptionally heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday of this week, the Director General of the Kenya Meteorological Department, Dr. David Gikungu, has warned.

Dr David Gikungu, who spoke on Citizen TV's The Explainer Show on Tuesday night, said the heavy rain would continue to fall in various parts of the country, but would be especially heavy around the weekend.

He predicted that Thursday and Friday would be particularly severe, with varying effects expected across the country.

“We are expecting that rainfall will continue in the entire month of May but at varying degrees depending on where you are,” Gikungu said.

“On this particular week, we are expecting Thursday and Friday to have heavy rainfall; that is what the forecast shows.”

While reminding the public to follow the Weatherman's cautionary measures, the Met director also advised Kenyans not to be afraid of the current downpours because they may bring some good.

“It is important that we take care if possible. We should not treat rainfall as all negative, it is also possible for us to plan and make use of it because it may not always be with us,” he added.
