Man Captured Carrying A Python To The Police Station

A man from Ugunja, Siaya County, who went viral after killing a python and taking it to a police station, has now spoken out seeking justice for the loss of his dog and the economic damage caused by the snake.

Speaking to the media on Monday, December 29, 2025, the man explained that the incident happened while he was going about his normal duties at his homestead.

Trouble started when his chickens began making alarm noises, prompting him to release his dogs to check what was happening.

Moments later, the dog also began screaming. When he rushed to the scene, he found a python chasing another dog as his lay dead on the ground. Armed with a machete, he confronted the snake and engaged it in a fierce struggle.

He said his actions were driven by anger and frustration after discovering that his dog had already been killed. According to him, this was not the first time the python had caused problems in the area. He explained that the snake had repeatedly attacked livestock, including chickens and goats, posing a constant threat to residents.

The man noted that the dogs play a crucial role in protecting his maize farm from monkeys, which frequently destroy crops in the area. With the dogs being killed by the python, he fears his only source of income is now at risk.

Haya mashamba ndo mapato yangu tu, sasa sijui nitafanya namna gani,” he lamented.

Loosely translated as;

“It was just yesterday, while I was going about my chores at the homestead. I heard my chickens making a lot of noise, and since I keep dogs, I released them to go check what was happening. Shortly after, I heard the dogs yelping too. When I got there, I saw one of the dogs running away while a snake was chasing it. I had a machete in my hand, so I had to fight the snake.

Out of the anger I felt after seeing my dog killed by that snake, and this is not the first time this python has been troubling us. Sometimes it gets your chickens and eats them, other times goats, basically everything. I have a maize farm, and we are also troubled by monkeys. These dogs are the ones we keep to chase the monkeys away, yet they are being killed by the python.

These farms are my only source of income, and now I do not know what I am going to do.”

Following the incident on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the man tied both the dead snake and his dog onto a bicycle and rode straight to the police station. His dramatic action quickly spread online.

He is now calling on authorities to address the growing threat of dangerous wildlife in villages and to help him recover from the losses he has suffered.
