Today, Vioja Mahakamani actor Alphonse Makokha will lay his late wife, Purity Wambui, to rest at Lang'ata Cemetery. Wambui passed away on June 1 after a long battle with cancer.
According to a eulogy shared by the family, friends and family were expected to gather at Kenyatta National Hospital at 6:30 am for a brief service and viewing at the hospital mortuary.
The ceremony at Lang'ata Cemetery was scheduled to begin between 9:30 and 10:00 am, with praise, worship, and an opening prayer.
The reading of the eulogy was set for 10:30 am, followed by tributes and speeches. Afterward, friends and family were to view the body before Wambui was laid to rest.
The eulogy detailed that Wambui began feeling unwell in September of the previous year.
"A visit to the doctor revealed she had stage 4 breast cancer. Despite her health challenges, she remained strong and hopeful, spending as much time as possible with her loved ones. She was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital on May 29 and sadly, she passed away on June 1," it read.
Wambui had been married to Makokha for 31 years, and together they were blessed with four children. Makokha expressed his sorrow, saying, "I will miss you so much, my dear. I don't know who I will share stories with now. It's tough! Rest in peace, my love."
Wambui's family spoke fondly of her and the deep love the community had for her. They noted how her kindness and strength touched many lives and how her boldness and fearlessness in speaking her mind were truly inspiring.
"She was a fierce defender of her loved ones, always ensuring their well-being and happiness. Her love, laughter, and resilience will continue to inspire us. We will miss her dearly but will always carry her in our hearts," the family said.
The family also expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported them during this difficult time.
"Your support, prayers, and kind words have comforted us greatly. Thank you for being there and helping us honor and remember Purity's life. Your presence and assistance have meant the world to us. Thank you all," they said.
