Unknown assailants ambushed a vehicle transporting IEBC materials for tomorrow's elections in Chuka/Igambang'ombe this morning.
The perpetrators shattered sealed boxes containing ballot papers and IEBC official badges, scattering them throughout the area.
Officials from the electoral body say they were taken to polling stations in Igambang'ombe Sub-county from Chuka Sub-county.
Earlier this month, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that no additional ballot paper would be printed for the August elections.
"We are only printing ballot papers to the tune of 22,120,458, which is the number of registered voters, so multiply that by the six elective positions and you get the total number of ballot papers printed," Mr. Chebukati stated.
"We all know that there is never a 100% voter turnout, so destroyed votes will be included in that number," he added.
