The government of Kenya is on a new talent search to find persons who will take up jobs in Saudi Arabia and the United Arabs Emirates.
In the new labour export scheme, the Ministry of Labour seeks to send 500 nannies and 600 motorcycle (boda boda) riders to the Gulf region.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Afred Mutua on Thursday called on qualified candidates to prepare their applications.
Mutua said a Saudi Arabian Human Resource team is currently in Kenya seeking to ‘urgently’ employ 500 Nannies.
Additionally, Mutua said officials from a United Arab Emirates company will be in Kenya next week to interview and hire motorcycle riders.
The package, Mutua said, offers upto Ksh. 104,000 per month for the boda boda riders and Ksh. 41,000 - 52,000 for the nannies.
Candidates seeking to be boda boda riders will part with Ksh.167,900 to cater for HR provider fee, Airfare, medical and visa processing fees. Those seeking nanny jobs will pay a medical fee of Ksh.13,500.
The latest talent hunt comes nearly a week after the government halted the mass job recruitment exercise to give room for processing of previously successful candidates.
Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua said the pronouncement was necessitated by the need to take stock of the progress so far and also align with the requirements of the recruiting agencies and the needs of the job seekers.
