Labour CS Alfred Mutua announces 20,000 job opportunities for kenyas abroad

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alfred Mutua has called on job seekers across the country to ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming national job recruitment drive.

Mutua emphasized the need for applicants to log into the e-Citizen platform to apply for critical documents needed in the exercise, including certificates of good conduct and passports.

The recruitment exercise, targeting both skilled and unskilled laborers seeking opportunities abroad, is set to kick off on Wednesday at the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind.

CS Mutua highlighted that priority will be given to applicants who have taken the initiative to meet the needed requirements.

“This is a great opportunity for Kenyans to secure employment abroad and improve their livelihoods. However, preparedness is key. I urge all job seekers to ensure they have the necessary documentation to enhance their chances during the selection process,” Mutua said.

The recruitment drive will move to Makueni on Thursday and Kitui on Friday and eventually cover all counties, with 20,000 job positions available for distribution nationwide.

This is the second national recruitment drive after the ministry and officials from the Middle East conducted interviews in late October, seeking workers across hospitality and service, construction, and technical industries.

The four-day recruitment exercise attracted about 20,000 Kenyans who turned up for interviews at different stations in Nairobi as they competed for only 8,000 available positions.

Mutua revealed that the unnamed Qatari company will cater for the ‘big costs’ of Kenyan workers’ relocation process such as air tickets and accommodation.
