Grief and anger have gripped Lugari Constituency following the discovery of the body of Munyuki PAG Secondary School principal, Simon Isiaho, six days after he was reported missing.

Isiaho’s body was recovered from River Kipkaren bearing deep injuries and apparent signs of torture, raising suspicions of foul play.

Teachers from the Western region have now threatened to withdraw from supervising the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, accusing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of dragging its feet in probing the death of their colleague.

“We want to know what really happened. A teacher cannot be killed in such a cruel manner,” said Anthony Gisamba, a teacher at Munyuki Secondary School.

Under the umbrella of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), the educators have vowed to boycott the national exams unless swift action is taken to investigate the matter.

“It’s unbelievable that a teacher can leave to collect exam papers and just disappear like that,” lamented Damary Kisiangani, KUPPET Kakamega County Vice Treasurer.

KUPPET Kakamega County Chairman Johnston Wabuti echoed similar sentiments, warning that teachers would suspend their exam duties until the DCI takes full responsibility for the investigation.

“We want to know what happened, otherwise we’ll stop supervising the KCSE exams until DCI officers act,” he said.

Regional leaders have also called for a comprehensive probe, citing inconsistencies between the injuries found on the body and the condition of Isiaho’s vehicle, which showed signs of an accident.

“We want to be told what happened from the accident scene to the river. Whoever is involved must be arrested — no one is above the law,” stated Ayub Savula, the Deputy Governor of Kakamega County.
