The youngest widow of the late Jackson Kibor, a prominent farmer and politician from Eldoret, has sought protection from the High Court.
Eunita Kibor claims she and her four children have been forcefully evicted from their matrimonial home and are now facing threats of eviction from the 300-acre Mafuta farm left to her by Kibor before his death.
In her urgent application, Eunita alleges that Kibor's other sons and daughters are conspiring to deprive her of her inheritance, in breach of a court order prohibiting interference with the estate.
However, the accused have countered, accusing Eunita of meddling with the estate and disregarding court orders.
Kibor left behind a vast estate worth over Sh16 billion, sparking a bitter succession battle among his widows and children, which includes more than 6,000 acres of land in Uasin Gishu.
Eunita accuses her step-children of contempt of court and mistreatment, stating that they unlawfully evicted her and her children from their Kabenes home shortly after Kibor's burial.
She claims her family has endured violence, threats, and financial interference from the respondents.
Represented by Kalya and Company advocates, Eunita seeks the court's intervention to protect her rights and specify the land she occupies, as well as restrain the respondents from trespassing or collecting rent from Kibor's properties.
Justice Nyakundi extended the preservation orders on the estate and scheduled Eunita's application for hearing on May 20, 2024.
